How long have you been in business?

Answer:

We have been in business at the same location in Terra Linda, San Rafael since 1991.

What is your primary product or service?

Answer:

Our primary service is Computer Training and anything related to helping people use their digital devices in a more productive and efficient way.

Question:

How did you first become interested in your line of business? What is your background?

Answer:

I was working on a database project for the City of San Francisco back in 1984 that was designed to help refugees learn new computer skills and find employment. IBM donated 10 computers to the agency and they asked me to teach the employees and agency staff how to use them. From that experience, I discovered that I really loved training people on how to use the computer and in 1991, I decided to open up my own computer training facility in Marin County.

How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?

Answer:

What we have tried to do at Bay Area Computer Training is provide a friendly and supportive training environment where people can enjoy learning new computer skills. We specialize in custom training classes targetted at solving specific problems or to help people with solutions to challenging projects that require the use of popular software products such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and Powerpoint. How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?

Answer:

Since the pandemic we have switched to Virtual Zoom training and people seem to like that approach. We also have office locations available in Novato and San Rafael for custom or small group in-person classes. We plan to expand into new areas as the market demands, particularly for Senior training with a strong support and follow up component, the newly emerging needs of the Hybrid workplace and the arrival of newer Cloud Based applications.

What type of payments do you accept?

Answer:

We accept Cash, PayPal, Venmo, Square, Checks, Credit Cards, Visa & Mastercard, and Company Purchase Orders.

Which areas do you service?

Answer:

We serve the entire Bay Area with a special focus on Marin and Sonoma Counties

Who owns your company or runs daily operations?

Answer:

Ken Dickinson, Executive Director, is the sole owner of the company and runs the day to day operations.

What hours are you available for training classes?

Answer:

We are available from 8am-6pm Monday through Friday , evenings and weekends by appointment.
